Today we celebrate renowned labour activist Mary Harris Jones. Born in Ireland, she moved to America during the Great Famine. She was a founder of the Social Democratic Party and fought hard for child labour laws and mineworkers’ rights. Her famous saying “Pray for the dead and fight like hell for the living” is still used today by union supporters. #IrishAmericanHeritageMonth #MothersDay
